I wanted create an image which represents or reflects the feeling of the places of transit or the non-places where the ordinary people lives their everyday life.

The image reproduces the place itself recorded in different days of the week from the same angle, composing a kind of infinite central perspective, recalling the idea of Chinese boxes.
Using the specific technique called “Mise en abyme”, of which many examples can be found in visual arts but also in theatre and literature, I tried  to the to make a special concentration and attention on this specific place. It is a place of transit, stopover and parking next to the Sydhavn station, where people leave their bike, walk or pass by without stopping, a kind of non-place in the periphery of Copenhagen.

The billboard is accompanying the sculpture "Fisherwoman" by Charles Svejstrup Madsen. It used to be placed at Gl. Strand in the centre of the city, but was been moved and stored due to construction of a metro circle line. It has been erected at Sydhavn Station on request of The Exhibition Space Sydhavn Station. The coming year different artists will be invited to create artworks for this billboard relating to the place and the sculpture, invited by the artists from Sydhavn Station.

Thanks to the Danish Arts Foundation and the City of Copenhagen.
