Kaleidoscope is a large installation, designed and created to be placed inside the Pisanello's room, in the Ducal Palace Museum in Mantua, on the occasion of the exhibition "You Place or Mine".
Compared to other works and other researches, in which Cavinato developed works focused on symmetry and the "forced" central point of view, this installation creates an unusual perspective effect, definable kaleidoscopic.
Regarding the kaleidoscope, indeed, the installation has constantly changing aspects.
If from the Middle Ages to the Renaissance, from the Baroque to the '900, the usual perspective grid has always been used to reconstruct or represent space or to reconstruct scenarios, buildings, architectural systems, urban projects of cities, here, the geometric structure undergoes a drastic distortion.
The artist recreates the space by following the interweaving of situations, ways and directions of forces, dictated by the traces of Pisanello's paintings.
In this walkable sculpture, Cavinato runs on a thin thread that unites and divides chaotic and orderly perception. It is a skeleton, a fossil, a fragment, a residue of an architectural building that could come from the past or the future. As if it were a wreck, a spatial, geometric and remote mathematical structure.
